It’s official – this year, Assembly Voting has become a part of Lumi Global and will continue as Lumi Denmark. Our commitment to making online voting as secure, transparent, and accessible as possible will undoubtedly remain unchanged. However, we thought it would be appropriate to use this edition of The Ballot to explore the background, philosophy, and work of our new parent company.
Lumi Global Has Office in Fifteen Countries (and Counting)
The “global” in the name isn’t just a tagline – Lumi Global is actually a company with a footprint reaching around the globe!
With the inauguration of Lumi Denmark and Lumi Spain this year, Lumi Global now has a presence in fifteen countries. Aside from the head office in the UK, Lumi Global’s branches can be found in places like the US, Canada, Singapore, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, and France, amongst others.
Lumi Global's History Goes Back Over Thirty Years
Lumi Global’s current name might only date back to the 2010s, but did you know that the company boasts a history dating back to the earliest days of the internet?
Lumi Global’s predecessor, International Meetings Limited (IML), was founded in the UK back in 1991 with the goal of optimizing meetings and assemblies by using digital keypads to record votes from attendees. After several acquisitions and mergers, along with product improvements to further streamline the conduction of meetings, Lumi Global acquired its current identity in 2014 and has worked to further raise the bar for digital meeting platforms.
Lumi Global Is a Pioneer in Conducting Hybrid Voting in Meetings
As we’ve covered previously, “hybrid voting” means an election or voting event where ballots are cast both digitally and with paper ballots – either mailed or cast in-person. Hybrid voting is a practical solution which not only allows voters to cast ballots in a way which suits them, but also can help ease organizations into fully-digital elections.
Lumi Global was ahead of the curve when it came to introducing hybrid voting in company shareholder meetings, as it delivered the world’s first mobile hybrid voting solution for the Dutch company FloraHolland back in 2015. Stated a FloraHolland executive at the time, “The software enabled us to hear the voice of our members that live abroad in real-time as the meeting happened.” We think this quote speaks for itself in highlighting the advantages of hybrid voting.
Lumi Global's clients Run the Gamut
What’s a “global” company without some high-profile international clients?
Taking a look at Lumi Global’s customers, one sees everything from large multinational corporations like Samsung and Vodafone to religious groups like the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, fashion companies like Jimmy Choo, and industry associations like the US’ National Association of Realtors. Every step of the way, Lumi spared no effort in making sure that regulations were followed, participants were satisfied, and votes were secured.
After combining forces, Assembly Voting and Lumi Global hope to now bring end-to-verifiable voting to a wider customer base and kick off a new era of revitalizing intra-organizational democracies everywhere.
